Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Formed in 1994, the party is one of the component parties of the Barisan Nasional. Figures who were instrumental in forming the party include Datuk Yong Teck Lee, Datuk Geoffrey Yee Lung Fook and Datuk Tham Nyip Shen who were in the federal capital to register the party. The other team stayed back in Kota Kinabalu like Datuk Seri Panglima Tan Kit Sher, Datuk Joseph Chia Swee Chung and Datuk Philip Yong Chiew Lip. This happened in 1994, just in time for the February 1994 elections. Liberal Democratic Party Founded in Tawau Sabah, the Liberal Democratic Party is a Chinese based party formed by Hiew Min Kong. It is one of the component parties that form the national alliance of Barisan Nasional. The party contested its only parliamentary seat in Sabah which they lost Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah. The PBRS or otherwise known as the United Sabah People's Party is a political party in Sabah formed by some members of the ruling Parti Bersatu Sabah in 1994, its party president Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Kurup is a component party of the Barisan Nasional. The Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party The SPDP is one of the component parties of the Barisan Nasional. Hosted in the east Malaysian state of Sarawak, the party was founded after the Sarawak National Party was de-registered in 2002 led by Dato Sri William Mawan ak Ikom. United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation Based in Sabah, the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation or in short UPKO is an ethnically-based party that aims to voice out for the Murut and Kadazan-Dusun of Sabah. It began with the PDS or the Parti Demokrat Sabah, which was then headed and formed by Bernard Dompok and other figures from the PBS (Parti Bersatu Sabah), which eventually was renamed as UPKO. UPKO, is one of the component parties that form the BN coalition. It is not the same as the first UPKO which was previously formed in 1964 which was then headed by Tun Fuad Stephens the then Chief Minister. The current UPKO is a new organization and has no relation whatsoever with the former one. UPKO also has no relation whatsoever with the Pertubuhan Pasok Momogun Bersatu (United Pasok Momogun Organisation) formed by Orang Kaya Datuk GS Sundang in 1962 or with PASOK, formed by Richard Jayasuriya otherwise known as United Pasok Nunukragang National Organisation. Sarawak People's Party The Sarawak People's Party was formed by Dr James Masing and Sng Chee Hua, who formed the party after the de-registration of the Sarawak Native People's Party in 2003 and is a component party of the BN coalition in Sarawak. Sarawak United People's Party One of the constituent members of the Barisan Nasional the Sarawak United People's Party was formed in 1959 and was mainly made up of the then working class Chinese who was then related to the underground communist movement in the state.
