Petronas lose RM300,000 over change of forum venue PDF Print E-mail

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that national petroleum company Petronas suffered a RM300,000 loss when the Petronas Group's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) 2008 forum’s venue was changed from Cape Town in South Africa to Kuala Lumpur. Most of the amount came from canceled economy class flights, he added. He said "However, cancellation of hotel room bookings in Cape Town did not cause Petronas to incur any loss. In this matter, although the decision (to change the venue) caused Petronas to incur some losses, the overall savings by having the forum in Kuala Lumpur justified the action," The venue was changed after the recent economic situation in the world and the government’s cost cutting measures.

.... why this need to go Cape Town for a forum !... expenses in crucial times like this ... govt . should have set the GLC expense criteria ... this reflects the GLC management mindset ... they think the RM belongs to them ... the usual 'plunder and don't bother mentality' ... the world owe them a living ...

... even in good times , the RM to be spent should be in our own country first ... at least , we can achieve some economic multiplier effect ...

This forum has been organized throughout the world and locally. In fact being one of those participants previously in this forum it was a noble effort. 300K for Petronas the govn want to meddle in Petronas. It shows it is being politicised. As a global entity petronas can have it anywhere in the world not to please malaysian Pak Lah or Najib on cost cutting but actually they are giving back to the people of their nation as mentioned in their mission statement la.

This malaysian stupid govnment will meddle and sodom whatever they can telling the rakyat they have done justice by having it done locally. Katak bawah tempurung. I think if behave like Uitm not to be open I think one day petronas one day will go bonkers manipulated by these govenment assholes.

Might as well don't do business in South Africa la.

We are a business entity

Oil and gas is our business

Our mission is to add value to these resources

The well being o the people and to the nation

See see.......................these PM tells look I have save 300K for the rakyat Malaysia. What a stupid PM.

What the PM don't know is the internal vision and mission of Petronas

What he knows after waking up from sleep is Vision 2020 and how to achieve is introduce Islam Hadari, ada had ada hari and now gone hari hari.
