Datuk Ismail Abdul Rahim, the director-general of the Manpower Department has announced and clarified that the online job registration and matching portal www.jobsmalaysia.gov.my which is under the governance of the Human Resource Ministry is free of charge and it is an offence for anyone who imposes any form of monetary fee for its services. He said this after it was reported that a complaint surfaced in Sarawak when an individual was asked to pay RM500 to have his application processes by the Manpower Department. Ismail said “It was an offence for any officer to ask for payment from the service users for the application process to be expedited. If there is request for such payment, they should immediately report it to the police and any Manpower office in the states for action to be taken. The JobsMalaysia service is free. No officer can ask for payment from the public who are seeking employment (through the online service),"

He added that “While this was the first such complaint received, there were 80 Manpower offices nationwide for the public to lodge reports if such offence had been committed by its officers.”
