Dont get sucked into this Islamic debate as for the non-Muslims it is no longer an issue. So far, PAS is an honorable party who has the people's interest at heart. No non-Muslims in Kelantan are bitching about their rule there. They have given them the freedom as non-Muslims to go about their business as usual. So what's all the fuss about PAS? There are a lot of good people there. Go to KB and you can just walk into Nik Aziz's home and he will serve you a cuppa tea and have a discussion with you. You dont need appointments or protocol (I believe it stands up to today, unless he may not be as strong as before). Can or will the BN ministers accord you this privilege?

Amendment of the law cannot be done without the votes of at least 2/3 majority votes of MPs.

Not only the Muslims, even the non-Muslims will first have to be convinced & thereafter favour Hudud & Qisas, before any such laws could ever be enacted.

That would be the challenge for PAS & every Muslim to convince the non-Muslims.

The choice to accept or reject still resides with each & every citizen of legal age notwithstanding race, religion or creed.

So what is there to worry?

Technically, the rakyat must first be educated & acquainted with Hudud well before it can be implemented.

I am not Khairy supporter but some of his statement were true regarding DAP rejection of Hudud & Qisas law proposal by PAS. Look at Kit Siang and Karpal statement on their objection to the Hudud Law.

I personally think that the PAS mission to make Hudud law a reality is just a dream under PR.The non muslim will always reject its foundation because they like free sex,alcohol,gambling etc(to some of them)-something that is against islamic teachings.

I am a muslim and I support Hudud & Qisas law 120% but I doubt that pakatan with kafir to realize hudud & Qisas would become reality. On the previous proposal by Tuan Guru to combine PAS & UMNO to unite the malay would realise this dream.This is sadly however has been rejected by Hadi Awang after receiving pressure from party's members.

I don't really understand why Malaysian voters especially PR members are always angry and shout out harsh words like monkey,dumb ass etc..Maybe some of us Malaysian not ready to act professional when talk about politic.No wonder we had bad representatives in parliament with bad behaviour.This applies to some UMNO representatives too.

Barisan has a bigger uphill task than they had at Permatang Pauh.And This the BN Government knows! So how is it going to be.....Only one way....the UMNO way.....Which is play dirty!

UMNO played every dirty trick it knew at PP, and still the lost miserably. PKR was wise to their tricks....and more important, the Rakyat saw through their game plan.

At KT, where the feelings towards PAS is strong, I would like to see what dirty tricks UMNO is going to pull out of their sleeves!

UMNO has to win here...as the results at KT will be a prelude to a Snap Elections, coming up in March!

Under the present senario, the chances are PAS has the advantage because of the Islamic factor. Remember Islam is a majour factor that is important to the Malays.

Both PAS and UMNO champions Islam.
The difference is its applications. PAS prefers the strictly Islamic approach in form while UMNO places more emphasis on substance. That is why I say it does matter to the Malays whether PAS or UMNO wins.

PAS has the advantage because they are preferred by the Malays in the east coast.
Furthermore UMNO is currently having internal problems, which has come about since Mahathir and Anwar were the leaders. So long as these two figures are still around, UMNO will be faced with the the problems of unity which is what the first letter in UMNO stands for (United)

UMNO has faced this problem since it was first established. This is because the social structure of the Malays is so complex (many ethnicities) and it is very difficult to get one leader that can be accepted by all the various ethnics and States. That is why the unifying factor Islam will be more acceptable.

As you can see my comments are always based on people and not parties. Islam was also that started to make the Malays well known when the Malaka sultanate was established in the 1500 by an ethnic Malay prince by the name of Paramweswara from Palembang who was a Hindu. He converted to Islam and started to expand the Malaka Sultanate known throughout the world at that time.

Malaka plays the Cultural role of the Malays just like Peking plays the cultural role the Chinese. The Malaka Sultanate then was the center of the ethnic Malays of the Malay Archipelago developing Malay as the lingua franca, taking advantage of its strategic location for trading among the Islands.

There is another center in Batavia now Jakarta. Batavia was far away from the trading routes of the world. Hence Malaka take preference.

Since Merdeka the Malays have developed further through education. Currently the Civil servise has been equipped with the most advanced managemnet seytems and technologies that the West have. The advent of IT makes it much simpler to improve the management of the civil service.

All through my career in the civil service I was involved in the improvement of the civil service. In that process too I have been working with most of the leaders that we have to day, practically the whole of Malaysia. The PMs, The CMs The Ministes and Deputy Ministers, you name it, I have personal encounters with them. That is why whenever you mention any of these people I can comment on their personalities.

Should you read this excellent piece below emailed by friend of mine thoroungly. Since you talk too much about real malay issue on this thread. So allow me to enlighten you what other Malays think about the hak keistimewaan and bumiputra's rights.
If only there were more Malays who think and feel like him perhaps there could be a future in this country!

The Malays are 'technically' in power governing the country but it is also this same controlling group that demands the right to correct economic imbalances and disparities for its own race.

What does this say about the 'majority governing' Malay race for the last 50 years? I dare say that most Malaysians (regardless of race) below the age of 40 would like to see all opportunities be spread amongst those who deserve it on meritocracy.

We do not need the keris anymore to tell others to be careful of what they say and do because in the survival of the fittest, the keris is of very little relevance!

If we continue to hide under the 'bumiputera' tempurung as most Malays have been in the last 50 years or more, the catch-up game will just get harder and the gap wider.

If we continue to expect without earning it, we will never learn how to be a race that succeeds on merit. There is NO substitute for merit . The Malay politicians continue to shout about Malay rights and bumiputera rights because the very nature of our local politics is sadly racially biased.

In this day and age, a great nation is built upon joint success stories, meritocracy and the combined hard work of its people WITHOUT any fear or favour of racial biased politics governing our daily policies. Sadly, the Malay politicians have ended up completely corrupt, racialists, twisted religious fanatics.

I am below 40 and as much as I love the 'idea' that Malaysia is tanah tumpahnya darah orang Melayu, I can't help but also feel that this country is for ALL Malaysians alike including the Chongs, the Kumars, the Xaviers, the Singhs & Kaurs etc who were born on the same day in the same hospital as me here in Malaysia.

If we feel that WE (the Malays) deserve this country more than THEM , then WE (the Malays) should have shown them a long time ago that we deserve the 'control all' status.

We have to earn it. The policies FAILED because the very concept of Malay rights or the NEP/DEB is like a double-edged sword. On one hand, it aims to eradicate wealth disparity but on the other, it has made the Malays oblivious of what reality is. Our (Malays) success is only reflected in the 'perceived' political power which today can collapse in a matter of minutes. I would also like to see my children succeed in their country, Malaysia, for reasons that true success should be based upon, which are merit and hard work and NOT because they are Malays or bumiputeras.

For as long as the Malays don't see this, there is very little point in fighting for Malay rights..

It just makes us look more ridiculous. We have taken this notion of being privileged a bit too literally in that it now simply means we want this country and its fruits all for ourselves without accepting the responsibilities that come with it. I blame the MALAY politicians for this because we want to only fight the cause without strategising for the true substance and need of the cause. We have been given fish all the while without being taught how to fish.

It's funny how two different generations can be so diverse in their thinking and the recent elections proved just that... We are no longer concerned with racial problems but more so the never-ending Malay agenda issues. The rakyat has spoken and the landscape has drastically changed. Is this change welcomed? Is it good?

The answer is 'NO'. Because we,the Malays, have been caught with our pants down - we are not ready to compete on any level playing field (we can't even compete on advantageous grounds!). Even with three or five more continuing policies for Malay rights or bumiputera privileges over the next 50 years, we will still be in exactly the same position as we are in today.

The truth hurts and the truth will always prevail. And the truth of what's to come will NOT go away. I am cynical perhaps because I feel that Malay rights is NOT relevant anymore.

The right to be safe, to be treated fairly, to have a world-class healthcare and education, to enjoy equal prosperity, to have good governance, to live in a clean environment and to be war-free is what I want for my Malaysia. NOT for MY race to be artificially powerful.

If we want the Malays to fail, then by all means continue the fight for Malay rights. Go and polish your keris..

Fair, the guy may be able to provide for the financial & conjugal needs of his wives. Are you actually claiming that the translation of the Quran is less than authentic & therefore runs contrary with Allah's message? Weird coz both the Malay & English translations are somewhat consistent.

At least with Hudud, provisions are clear as to the manner of treatment & severe extent of punishment unto those caught & convicted for manipulation of the Law if resulting in the miscarriage of justice.

The government (means any government) have its job to do, ISA is the law, Sarawak imigration is also the law. They are only doing what they think is best under the cirstances.

I learned this very early in my service when I was the Assistan District Officer in Kajang. Being an Assistant District officer, I am also the Magistrate and conduct cases when the Magistrate is not available. So I conduct myself as i need to. I am up there looking at the accused and witnesses.

In another case I was a witness to a case. Then I am down there looking up at the magistrate. I then realise what the real world is. One has to see both sides of any situation. DeBono emphasysed this in his book.

As for the oil price I see it is not the issue. The price of oil is controlled by the market.

I think you have made up your mind that you dont like someone and nothing that he does will ever pleases you, without even seeing his side of the picture.

About Anwar, I know him too well. He is just like kids in the Universiti, full of ideals and ambitions to change everything that they see is not right in this world, just like you kids are feeling now.

Normally a man will change with age and experience the real world. Anwar has gone true the real world and even in the government himself, yet the way he acts is exactly like he was still in his student days all over again, thinking the world is there to do him a favour whenever he likes. While in Kajang also, the current Sultan of Selangor was the Raja Muda then. He made a visit to Kajang. There was no house to accomodate him. I had to temporarily vacaty my house to accomodate the Raja Muda. When the Raja Muda left, the Kajang people gave me a nikname the Raja Muda of Kajang for the things I have done in Kajang.

They even wanted to confer me a Datokship but I did not acccept for it is more a burden to carry it. I prefer to be just an anonnymous simple man so that I can observe people and not atrract observation. That is how I have been observing all the current leaders that I have encountered without them even knowing it, including Anwar.

The banks are careful in giving out loans. Loans are given only to those with integrity that they have shown in paying back the loans. Integrity is what one builds up in their performance over time.

You know what, my bank keeps on offering me loans even when I dont need them. One must not be greedy and takes only what one needs to survive only.

The problem is no one believe in you, no matter how hard you try. Too many contradictions in your comments. As a 66 years old man... it is time for you to sit in a corner and start telling fairy tales to these kindergarden kids.... please dont do it in this portal.... wasting your precious time for you are already in your golden age. Spend more time with your grandchildren rather than telling bullshits stories here.

Look at the previous Bank Bumi... every year lost hundreds of millions to more then one billion. When Bank Bumi was taken over ( not merge ) by Bank of Commerce.. around one billion was put under bad debts... later just... vanished into thin air. Most of those loan defaulters are of Umnoputera guys. Of course ... you will say... where is the evidence? All proof and evidence has been erase lah... but the truths still lies in the top managers of both former banks: Bank Bumi and Bank of Commerce... and these managers are still very much alive.... of course, they need their job... why take the risk or be held under ISA if these scandals were to spill out in the public.
