Father Lawrence Andrew, the editor of the Herald, the Roman Catholic Church of Malaysia’s official newsletter said that the publication is not out to be controversial or strayed from the guidelines ever since they came to light since beginning of the year. He said I've constantly said we're following what we've asked for when we applied for the publishing permit. So I'm well within the understanding. We have defined ourselves as Catholic. So we stand by our faith, our application. If not laporan/kajian/analisis, we would have limited ourselves. But as it is, it is clearly stated here,"
He added that "July 16 was the show-cause letter. We haven't replied to that. They did not stipulate a time frame for us to respond. We will probably do so within this week. We are not challenging the government, we're just carrying out our mission of goodwill to all people. What The Herald is doing is helping people, that's the mission, the divine mission. We are not enemies but friends. We are a minority, seeking inter-religious dialogue and friendship. We are saying, our very religion is about peace and friendship. 'Do unto others as you would like others to do unto you',"
