The president of MCA, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has called on the leaders of the party to set their priorities right and focus on the next general elections and stop hoping on the issue of calling for fresh party elections because there is no point winning the battle from within the MCA but losing the war when the next general elections take place. He said “At a time when tension in the party has somewhat eased and the overwhelming majority of members want to move on, I think we should rightly focus on gearing up for the next general election.” |

John Ambrose, the Umno chairman of the Penampang division has hit out at opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, telling him to stop teaching what he cannot achieve himself. This came in light after Anwar called on the people to change the old style of politics but Ambrose contend that this is what is not happening in the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) of which he is the advisor. |

Datuk Chor Chee Heung, the deputy finance minister said that once the proposed GST (Goods and Services Tax) is put in place come mid 2011, the corporate and income tax will gradually be reduced. He said "This is long term objective of the government. Once the GST come into play, it will be a broadbased tax. The trend is, once the GST is implemented, corporate and income tax will gradually be reduced," |

Marina Mahathir, the daughter of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is a renowned columnist and a social activist was not too happy after her articles got spiked by The Star where she has a weekly column entitled ‘Musings’. This came in light after she touched on caning sentence for Muslim women which was deemed sensitive by the English daily. She has however, posted her article on her blog site. |
