Cut and paste from MT A republic of virtue

After fifty years of independence, we have still not evolved much in the way we perceive each other. Our education system has failed miserably in promoting the wonders and the wisdom of the cultures of the people of Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR (times ofi ndia): About 500 angry ethic-Indians on Monday staged a protest outside a school demanding action against a teacher who allegedly hurled racial slurs against students from the community in western Malaysia's Selangor state.

According to the police report, a woman history teacher had allegedly called Indian students in a Class four and five 'Negro', 'black monkeys' and other derogatory names.

The crowd began gathering outside the Banting school's main entrance near here at noon and staged a protest for two hours.

The teacher had also allegedly said that the community members were stupid and prone to thievery, the Star daily reported on its website.

The alleged incidents took place on July 17 and 22 when the teacher had allegedly beaten up some Indians students.

A students also alleged in his report that the teacher had written the word 'keling pariah' on the board and lost her cool when the Indian students told her that they did not like being called names, it said.

How racist are we ?
The teacher is one, so are the people who protest. The question is can it be removed at all ?

There is no ways for different races to become good brothers and sisters on a political and legal basis. I am talking about the general trend and please do not tell me you everday say HI to your Malay neighbour and other similar craps. Anyway, the bumipigs and nonbumipigs come from different world.

May God bless us with no more racism in Malaysia. ERADICATE RACISM!

I read with interest the many articles that appear on this website, and I always wonder .........
The same correspondents appear to respond to articles; they are very enthusiastic and appear to believe that everything will be sweet once DSAI is in power. I just wonder whether it is as simple as that. A change in leadership is not necessarily going to lead to the freedoms that are eagerly anticipated; in fact, one must ask whether there will be any change at all!
Surely I am not the only person who concedes that the many arms of control whether it be the Police, the Armed Forces, or whatever else that has power and weapons is not simply going to accept a change of government that may be be perceived to be detrimental to their position.
I hope the wishes of the average Malaysian is realised; I just want to caution that high expectations will not be easily met.

Very sad to see an article I post not getting the right respond, I was hopping Malaysian will learn to see that all of us look at others through a colour glass as well. If you do not see the problem, how do we solve it ? Is there a problem ? To most, no, it is just other people expection and so on and so fore.
Maybe YM RPK has done us a disservice, now everyone is only looking at the political angle only, the rest has become a blind spot. God, Malaysian are really sheep type more then most.

Mercury rising!!! Racism cannot be eliminated completely but if they is any law of anti-discrimination would be a good. Malaysia I don't see any law that positively promote fairness and nondiscrimination. All we have is NEP which is discriminatory. Our political system is such a good measurement of high racial discrimination. Can you see any Chinese or Indian holding cabinet post with national importance like defense, finance, education, foreign affairs etc? US has Condolezza Rice as Secretary of State, Barack Obama as President-in-waiting.

Making friends with a different race is getting more and more difficult everyday, Just now at lunch have a discussion with a Malay friend, it just does not get any where (We were talking about the Bar council thingy), It is like Islam is being undermind when ever anyone none muslim wants to talk about it.
If we do not share view, how do we become friends ? If I do not understand how a certain person think at all, can he or she be call a friend ? If I am not interested in knowing what that person think, am I interested in being his or her friend at all ?
Maybe now I do not know what a friend is, signnnnnnnn, maybe I am the only crazy one after all.
