Tear gas was fired at a group of about 700 Iranians which consist mainly of students as they refused to budge despite several warnings by the police.
The Iranians had gathered outside Wisma UN located on Jalan Semanthan to hand over a memorandum protesting the development in their own country.
The group was to leave immediately after handing over the memorandum to the UN representative voicing their grievances and dissatisfaction over the recently concluded elections in their home country.
However, the problem started as most of them decided to stay and hold a sit-in which created a ruckus outside the building which also caused a massive traffic jam along busy Jalan Semanthan.
Eventually the police had no choice but was forced to fire the tear gas.
