Lim Guan Eng merupakan anak lelaki kepada Lim kit Siang yang merupakan bekas ketua pembangkang di Parlimen Malaysia. Beliau merupakan ahli politik berketurunan cina yang juga merupakan Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang yang keempat. Beliau turut memegang pelbagai jawatan lain seperti Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Air Puteh, Ahli Parlimen Bagan dan Setiausaha Agung Parti Tindakan Demokratik (DAP). Kejayaan besar dikecapi oleh apabila berjaya menyapu bersih kesemua 19 kerusi DUN Pulau Pinang yang ditandingi pada Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia ke-12. Beliau telah berkahwin dengan Betty Chew, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Kota Laksamana di Melaka. Lim Guan Eng memulakan pendidikan awalnya di La Salle Primary English School di Petaling Jaya, dan kemudianya di Batu Pahat Montfort Primary English School. Seterusnya beliau meneruskan pembelajaran menengahnya di Batu Pahat High School dan Melaka High School. Beliau kemudiannya mendapatkan pendidikan tinggi beliau di Universiti Monash, Australia dalam pengajian Ijazah Ekonomi. Pada tahun 1983, beliau digelar sebagai akauntan professional dan pernah menjadi presiden MUISS (Monash University International Student Society). Penglibatan dalam politik Pada 1986 beliau menerima perlantikan pertama sebagai Anggota Parlimen Kota Melaka selepas menewaskan Soh Chin Aun dengan majoriti 17606 undian. Penglibatan beliau dalam arena politik semakin rancak apabila beliau dipilih pada pilihan raya umum 1990 dan 1995, meskipun dengan undian majoriti yang berkurangan. Beliau pernah menjadi orang pertama yang dilantik dalam tiga penggal berturutan di Kota Melaka dan ini menjadiakan beliau sebagai alumni Melaka High School yang pertama mencapai rekod tersebut. Selain dari itu, beliau pernah dilantik sebagai Pengerusi Pemuda Sosialis DAP pada tahun 1989 dan pada tahun 1992. Pada tahun 1995 dan tahun 2004 pula, beliau telah dipilih sebagai Timbalan Setiausaha Agung DAP. Jawatan tersebut masih dipegang oleh beliau sehingga kini. Namun begitu, beliau terpaksa meninggalkan bidang politik selama lima tahun dari 26 Ogos 1999 sehingga 25 Ogos 2004 atas kesalahan di bawah Akta Hasutan dan Akta Percetakan dan Penerbitan mengenai kes rogol gadis bawah umur oleh bekas Ketua Menteri Melaka, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik. Selepas rayuan beliau diterima, beliau telah dipenjarakan selama 18 bulan dan dibebaskan 12 bulan selepas itu iaitu pada 25 Ogos 1999. Oleh kerana beliau dipenjarakan, maka beliau tidak dibenarkan bertanding pada pilihan raya selama 5 tahun. Oleh hal yang demikian beliau telah kembali bertanding pada Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia 2004. Beliau adalah calon bagi kerusi parlimen Bagan dan juga kerusi DUN Air Puteh di Pulau Pinang pada Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia ke-12. Tahun 2005, melakar kejutan pertarungan ketika mengadakan kempen pilihan raya di Melaka ke atas komiti DAP yang mana beliau dan isterinya terakhir dan kedua-terakhir. Walau bagaimanapun, semangat beliau masih teguh dalam memegang jawatan sebagai Setiausaha Agung DAP, seterusnya beliau termasuk antara komiti di bawah perlembangan parti manakala isteri beliau yang merupakan ketua wanita Melaka DAP, tidak termasuk dalam komiti. Sorang anggota Parlimen DAP Teresa Kok, telah dihalau keluar dari komiti apabila mengesyorkan konspirasi di belakang Lim dan Chew. Beliau telah muncul kembali dalam pilihan raya umum 2008 dan memenangi kerusi parlimen Bagan dan kerusi DUN Air Putih di Pulau Pinang. Atas kemenangan besar DAP itu, beliau telah berjaya menyandang jawatan sebagai Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang. Kontroversi Lim Guan Eng berfikiran sempit Beliau dikatakan berfikiran sempit apabila meminta Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi kembali ke Pulau Pinang dan menjelaskan kepada rakyat mengapa projek tertentu di negeri ini ditangguhkan. Sehubungan dengan itu, beliau turut dilihat terlalu focus kepada projek berkenaan, walhal banyak perkara lain dalam negeri yang perlu diperinci dan diselesaikan. Beliau diliht seakan sengaja mahu melepaskan ‘bom’ serangan ke atas kerajaan pusat di masa kerajaan berdepan dengan kenaikan harga minyak dan harga barang. Kenyataan beliau bahawa Pulau Pinang dipinggirkan oleh kerajaan adalah tidak relevan sama sekali. Beliau turut menambah bahawa penambahan RM30 bilion kepada RM230 bilion dalam belanjawan di bawah Kajian Separuh Penggal Rancangan Malaysia Kesembilan tidak meemberi belanjawan yang besar kepada Pulau Pinang apabila negeri terbabit hanya mendapat RM1.452 bilion atau 0.6 peratus dari jumlah itu. Isu ini mula dibangkitkan oleh beliau apabila Unit Perancang Ekonomi (EPU) Jabatan Perdana Menteri, dalam Kajian Separuh Penggal RMK9 pada tahun 2006 sehingga tahun 2008 menyatakan bahawa projek yang tidak mempunyai kepentingan rakyat di bawah rancangan asal, akan ditangguh atau dibawa ke Rancangan Malaysia ke-10. Ini adalah termasuk projek Jalan Lingkaran Luar Pulau Pinang (PORR) bernilai RM1.5 bilion, Monorel Pulau Pinang bernilai RM2 bilion dan kenaikan taraf keretapi Bukit Bendera. Lim Guan Eng penghasut Beliau pernah dijatuhi hukuman penggantungan dari politik selama 5 tahun di bawah Akta Hasutan, 1948 kerana menyebabkan perasaan tidak puas hati akan pelaksanaan keadilan di Malaysia di atas kes rogol gadis bawah umur oleh bekas Ketua Menteri Melaka, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik. Pada 17 Mac 1995,pula beliau dijatuhi satu tuduhan tambahan di bawah Akta Percetakan dan Penerbitan dikenakan kepadanya kerana mencetak dengan niat jahat risalah yang mengandungi maklumat palsu, apatah lagi apabila beliau telah menggunakan perkataan mangsa terpenjara untuk menggambarkan murid terbabit. Dakwaan di dalam perbicaraan pertama pada tahun 1997, menyebabkan beliau disabitkan bersalah atas kedua-dua tuduhan seterusnya didenda sebanyak RM15,000. Dalam pada itu, kerajaan merayu ke atas hukuman yang dianggapi terlalu ringan maka hukuman telah dinaikkan kepada pemenjaraan tiga tahun dan disebabkan hukuman ini, beliau dilarang menjadi ahli parlimen secara automatik.

Mr Lim, now is the time for you to boost Penang not digging. If you still continue digging in no time all rakyat will be sleeping on the road. Economy come 1st then you are real leader, if digging come 1st then all rakyat will die in your hand mean you are rakyat killer.

Now is not the time to reveal all the dark side of the previous government but to make sure everyone have the rice bowl to "SURVIVE". Think !!!!! Reveal means they need time to dig up and by the time they complete, we RAKYAT already gone with the wind. If you listen to all the donkeys who knows how to talk. My Penang friends alway tell me that Penang is like an overturned turtle with a spike driven into its heart. That Komtar does not represent the forward development of the state but more of the last erection of the of the previous govt. before it became impotent.

I belong to your father's generation. Your father ability to read Jawi does not mean he's a Javanese or a Muslim. So the threat written in Chinese does not mean it's definitely from a Chinese. But you and your collegues have to take the threat seriously. Mudsling / digging here and there is counter-productive. Since Gerakan has intention to join PR, you should stop digging the past but to join hands for the good all Malaysians, ( regardless of race or religion ) and our country. During the Warring States period, Cao Cao burned the books that contained names of defectors who were previously against him. By burning the books, he had shown generousity and goodwill towards the defectors. Thus, he could command loyalty from the defectors to face other immediate enemies. Otherwise the defectors would definitely rebel and Cao Cao might be killed too. Hope that you'll look at the scenario and consider my advice. Pls do send my regards to your father and Tunku Aziz too. Mr Lim, please please if you want more investors tell your leader do not make a mess of creating taking over of govt. Be more mercy for the RAKYAT. We are suffering now, no investors coming in, do you think all of us can survive. Pointing at each other will not revive the economy. Do something for the RAKYAT and don't just dig. YAB LGE became d victim of circumstances at that time. M'sian law is to protect UMNO n victimise others. Because RTC is UMNO n was CM for Malacca when he committed rape to d under age girl, he got free without being arrested. According to d law of d land he should be convicted for rape maximum 20 yrs jail sentence plus whipping. But instead of d rapist being remanded, the poor girl was jailed. LGE was jailed for trying to seek justice for d girl. He lost his MP seat n was out of politics for almost a decade. UMNO cannot deny him his rights forever. He is now CM for Penang.

The same UMNO law is trying to deny DSAI his rights 10 yrs ago n today. When Shy Fool made police report saying he was sodomised by DSAI he was given protection by UMNO govt n UMNO police. I believe Shy Fool is a Millionaire now just like PI Bala who disappeared. DSAI was arrested by commando unit as if he is a terrorist. How funny....? d law is some kind of a joke...? Saya orang Melayu tapi saya suka cara awak! Not like your dad. Most Melayu still think that DAP is serpihan Lee Kwan Yew. Prove them wrong. In Malaysia we must have our own way of interpreting our country. You go to Singapore think they like Malaysian regardless Melayu ke China ke India ke. Go there and you are 2nd class. One time got sesat in Singapore to find a small hotel where a training was conducted. Stop dekat kedai Apek below one of the flats. Went out of the car to ask direction. The apek came to me and ask whether I was lost. "Encik sesat ke?" wow my surprise an apek in Singapore asking me in BM. I cakap ya! he gave me directions. After that he said "Malaysia tak mau ambil org Singapore balik masuk Malaysia ke! Saya kalau boleh nak jadi orang Malaysia" I asked him why? he said "Singapore ni nak orang kaya dan pandai, semua untuk dia orang, kita orang biasa tak kira siapa ditinggal" So my friends how different is UMNO BN from Spore Govt. Methods I think are the same. Kalau bukan crony sorry beb. Our formula should be molded based on our own situation. My question to u yg dok kutuk pembela tu, if this country is attacked by outside forces what would you do? Migrate? See, indians have India, point in case Hindraf went to India for help. Chinese have China. Melayu nak gi mana. Nusantara ni Tanah Melayu, mana orang melayu nak pegi? so my question again where do you go when the country is attacked? Most non-Melayu migrated to Aussie, NZ, US during the recessions. Is this the kind of Bangsa Malaysia we talked about? Kita org stayed on. Mr LGE is a model Malaysia cause to me, he suffered defending a Malaysian and so happens the girl was a Malay and. this opened up a lot of Malay eyes including me. Whether we like it or not the truth is we are divided by race and religion but that does not mean that we could not live together. Look at Melaka during the Sultanate era. We have baba, chetia dll living in harmony making a living. Learn from history. We cannot survive without each other. It is pathetic that Malaysians seem to have a mind-set that we must have foreign investors to prosper. They are only the icing on the cake. We should learn to make the cake ourselves. The Koreans, Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese have Hyundai, Samsung, Acer, Haier and so on. Innovative, market-driven and hungry.

Kalau betul-betul mereka dipinggirkan, berapa ramaikah orang Melayu Singapura yang diterima menjadi kerakyatan Malaysia sejak 20 tahun kebelakangan ini? Kita orang yang berpendidikan dan bertamaddun, siasat dahulu dan mendapatkan kesahihan dahulu sebelum mengeluarkan hujah-hujah kamu.Setahu saya,yang banyak ialah Siam, Indon, Myanmar. BPR DI MANAKAH ANDA? PEGAWAI KERAJAAN SELEWENG GUNA NAMA ISTANA Istana Negeri Kelantan untuk kepentingan dirinya. Beliau salahguna kuasa untuk merampas tanah orang-orang kampung di Gua Musang bagi diusahakan sebagai lombong feldspar. Lombong lain yang sedang beroperasi juga dirampas untuk diberi kepada syarikat di mana beliau ada kepentingan. Beliau adalah Dato’ Shkori bin Mohamad (Pegawai Kewangan Negeri Kelantan) dan beliau disokong oleh seorang pengusaha yang muflis iaitu Encik Hoe Tin Tik. Disebabkan perbuatan Dato’ Shkori, Kerajaan Kelantan terpaksa menghadapi tindakan mahkamah daripada sebuah syarikat kepunyaan pelabur daripada Australia. Melalui “kebijaksanaan†Dato’ Shkori beliau menasihati kerajaan negeri bahawa pelabur Australia telah melakukan kesalahan dan patut dihukum. Hukuman dijatuhkan dengan merampas tanah lombong yang diusahakan oleh pelabur Australia. Rampasan ini dilakukan tanpa merujuk dengan rapi kepada peruntukan dalam perundangan Mineral Negeri Kelantan. Beliau juga menegaskan bahawa tindakan ini adalah kehendak Istana Negeri Kelantan. Orang biasa di Kelantan sudah arif dengan telatah Dato’ Shkori dan beliau menggunakan nama Istana sewenang-wenangnya. Tujuannya adalah supaya kehendaknya tidak ada bantahan. Pelabur Australia tidak ada jalan lain dan terpaksa mengambil tindakan mahkamah. Pelabur Australia menuntut pampasan berjuta-juta ringgit. Apabila ini berlaku, kerajaan Kelantan boleh kerugian tanpa sebab dan sekaligus Pelabur asing akan takut datang ke Kelantan. Juga tidak semena-mena nama Istana Negeri Kelantan juga akan tercemar tanpa sebab. Laporan akhbar New Straits Times bertarikh 17 November 2008 ada kaitan. Adakah disebabkan Kelantan diperintah oleh kerajaan Pas, maka Badan Pencegah Rasuah tidak ambil pusing tentang penyelewengan yang berlaku di Kelantan? BPR sepatutnya membantu kerajaan supaya tidak berlaku penyelewengan oleh kakitangan kerajaan sendiri. Apa yang berlaku di sini, rakyat dianiaya dan nama Istana juga terpalit disebabkan oleh sifat tamak haloba seorang kakitangan awam. report abuse

Lim Guan Eng sebenarnya masih tidak begitu menghormati bahasa kebangsaan. Buktinya, bahasa kebangsaannya masih lemah. Telornya kelat. Jelas tidak bersungguh dalam membudayakannya. Kalau bersungguh dah tentu tidak begitu hasilnya. Itu baru bab bahasa dalam komunikasi.

Proof to "rakyat" that you can help us during the this economy crisis not critise on others then we salute to you. If we have capable leader/people then we should appreciate their contribution toward Malaysia. Why S'pore want to snag all Malaysian with brilliant brain. Ask yourself the same, the PM knows what he want best for the country. Let just work hand in hand and make the rakyat feel secure to stay in Malaysia. Many people are very frustrated with all critisicm by both parties. Mr Lim proof to us then we will vote you in if not say bye bye to Penang. Mind your own business and not interfere with others.

I noted that our Streets esp.Gurney Drive have been well kept and clean as compare to the previous govt.

I live along Jln Meranti,Tg Bgh.There is a big drain near to a apartment blk which was recently covered (concreted) up the land opp the apt.was NOT properly level/drain and is now full of undergrowth.There are also some illegal shed/go downs erected on this land.May I suggest that MPPP have this land turn it into children playgrd n a small place for rubbish disposer depot(a lot of rubbish was throw around this place)n it attract good site for breeding mosquitoes. report abuse
